Toys That Are Educational

When looking for toys most of us are looking for educational yet fun toys for our children or grandchildren. I believe some of the video games can be educational but I still think there is nothing like the a physical toy. Choosing toys that will help children be more creative, adventurous and caring helps them learn more about themselves.

Wooden rattles are a great way to start your infants off with. You can get them finished or unfinished with a naturoil finish to be just right for the baby. Babies enjoy hearing sounds from rattles.

I don’t know toddler that doesn’t like building blocks…..or a car they can push around and their own sounds. I have a grandson that makes every sound a car could possibly make.

Preschoolers are so much fun they want to learn so much. I remember when my kids were small they would put puzzles together over and over. Or I would read them a book until I could recite it without the book.

Board games are a great way to get the family together and actually interact with each other. Most board games can be played with any age children and adults. When you are looking for great American made safe toys and games this holiday season check out http://www.AmericanToyBoutique.com.

UAW Appreciation!!!

With the elections coming soon and all the negative campaigning with  constant reminders of  what he did and what she did its hard to understand that our County’s best interest is still everyone’s number one priority. As proud Americans we should be appreciative of the true dedication the great United Autoworkers Union (UAW) has constantly provided.  With the ups and downs of our economy they have proudly kept the focus on building the American way. American Toy Boutique would like to show its appreciation by offering a 10% donation to the UAW. Start your Christmas shopping today by visiting http://www.AmericanToyBoutique.com.

American Made

I got up this morning and went to my daughters house to get my grand-daughter on the bus for school. It was chilly out, I love the fall weather. I think this is my favorite time of year. Holidays are right around the corner and its comfortable to be outside, the leaves are falling and changing color. I have been so blessed to be able to watch my grandchildren while their parents work. Its always been my dream to be able to work from home and work around my children work schedules so I can watch the grand-kids.

I’ve been able to because of my toy store http://www.AmericanToyBoutique.com. I believe in supporting American made safe products and I have been able to do just that. American Toy Boutique carries American made toys and games….and adding more almost daily. Right now we are adding stuffed toys! I have learned how important child play is…..its there jobs, that’s pretty cool. I have 2 grand-daughters    that are reading all the time and they love reading stories with their names in them. I have made them The Ballerina Princess personalized book and they love it. Puzzles are a great way to help them develop fine motor and eye-hand coordination. I am getting started Christmas shopping it gets hard with the older kids because they always want money and I don’t think that is as much fun, but I guess that’s better then getting them something they won’t like.

Learning and Wooden Puzzles

Children love wooden puzzles.  All my children and grandkids love playing with them.  I have been reading a lot of articles about the benefits to children playing with them.  These are some things I have learned.

Children learn to problem solve and develop critical thinking by placing puzzle pieces in it’s place since it will only fit if it is placed properly in the right space. They do a lot of turning and testing to get it right.

Puzzles are used alot when working with Autistic children who have delayed speech ability as a playful tool to encourage speech. Children often ask for a certain piece of the puzzle and that helps them develop many language skills.

Puzzles help teach children several basic math concepts also. While working with a puzzle children learn to categorize and organize pieces while doing that they are able to classify and label the pieces as well. It’s amazing to me that something as simple as a wood puzzle can be so beneficial to a child’s learning.

Wooden puzzles build eye-hand coordination. The ability to coordinate what the eye sees, the mind wants to do, and what the hands can accomplish takes a lot of practice. Puzzles offer an enjoyable way to practice this skill while encouraging independence. I never thought of it this way isn’t it amazing!!

Puzzles offer a fun way to develop fine motor ability. Children need to develop strength in the muscles in their fingers so that they can grasp things and hold onto them. This will later give them the ability to hold a pencil.

Wooden Puzzles offer opportunities to expand social skills as well. When children work cooperatively to complete a puzzle they engage in conversation. They develop a plan to solve the puzzle, they take turns and help each other solve problems as they arise.

When a child works on a puzzle until completion the child is developing persistence. Once the puzzle is solved the child can feel a sense of accomplishment which boosts his independence and self esteem.

Children use adaptable thinking and deductive reasoning skills when they find different ways to put the pieces together. They gain the ability to think abstractly when they are able to see negative space, like the space where a puzzle piece may fit, and figure out what type of shape would be needed to fill that space.
Wooden puzzles offered at http://www.AmericanToyBoutique.com  are an amazing learning tool and they are made in America. I now believe that of all the educational toys, wooden puzzles are the most versatile and well rounded learning tool you can purchase for your child because they offer a host of valuable educational benefits that support child development. Hope you have learned as much as I have.

Veggie Tales

I love the Veggie Tales. They help children learn about God. We have alot of the Veggie Tale games and puzzles.

Play is fun for children. Play is the way children learn.

Through play, children learn about themselves, their environment, people and the world around them. As they play, children learn to solve problems and to get along with others. They enhance their creativity and develop leadership skills and healthy personalities. Play develops skills children need to learn to read and write. Play in early childhood is the best foundation for success in school.

Fun Games

We just added more games to http://www.AmericanToyBoutique.com. I used to like playing games with my kids when they were young. My oldest son used to love playing Kerplunk. Remember that one! There are so many different card and board games that can give you and your children or grandchildren hours of playing time. Croquet is an outside game that is always fun. I used to play that with my brother and sister growing up.

They have Croquet sets that are more fun now then the one I use to play. Now we have this one with Animals which is more fun then the wire hoop ones we used to have. I think most of my grandchildren would rather play video games or games are their phones just because that is what they are growing up with. I remember when Atari first came out. My kids thought that was the greatest thing. My son would play it alot. But now its the WII or Playstation that they are all liking. Who knows what it will be next!

Father’s Day

This was my first Father’s Day without my dad. It actually went better than I thought it would. I miss him so much.  But I know he is happy now with God and my mom. He had been so lonely since my mom died. I am just being selfish wanting him here. And I will see him and my mom again one day.  He wouldn’t have liked all this hot weather anyway.  My oldest grandson graduated this year and I wished he could have been here for that. He would have been so proud of him. But I thank God I had the time I had with him. He was such an inspiration to so many people and he was really the only stable male figure in my kid’s life.  He was all about buying American made things and I know he would have loved the fact that my Toy store www.AmericanToyBoutique.com is American made toys and games. Every time I see the Checker board set it reminds me of him. He always played checkers with the grandkids and great grandkids. He use to play them with my brother growing up but he was always win and it would make my brother mad (he wasn’t a very good sport).  I have been very blessed to have a Father as wonderful as him.

What Did You Like To Play?

When you were a kid, what did you play?  Did you ride your bike in circles in the driveway until you were dizzy?  Did you dress up Mommy’s clothes and make mud pies for your dolls and stuffed animals?  Did you treat your baby dolls “broken arm” with band-aids? Or dress your dog or cat in baby doll clothes?

Sometimes it seems like kids are doing silly things but it’s their work. I have 1 grandson that he pretends everything he does has something to do with a car. And another grandson that writes short book’s, makes up games and then sells them. Every kid has something so unique about them. I love just to sit back and watch and listen to them.

They learn so much in their first few years on life. What are some of the things the children in your life playing?  Are they riding their bikes or pretend playing?  Sit back and watch and listen to them.

We have a lot of educational and pretend play toys and games at www.AmericanToyBoutique.com.

New Ways of Thinking

When my two oldest kids (which are 37 and 35) were young I was a single mom and the last thing I was thinking about was buying things made in America or the environment. I think alot of us were in the same boat as I was. But if we would have been thinking then about buying things made in America maybe so many people wouldn’t have lost their jobs. And if we had been thinking a little more about the environment our grandkids wouldn’t have to worry about land fills contaminating the air that they breath or the water they drink. We can’t change the past but this is one grandma that is ready to do whatever she can do to keep it from getting any worse then what it is. There are still toys and games made in America and alot of them are Earth Friendly. They are educational which is also a plus and they last alot longer. The Dollar store has a lot of cheap toys the kids break within the first day of playing with them, so really was that worth that dollar you just paid? I have seen with my grandkids, when I buy a cheap toy that gives them instant gratification but they open it in the car on the way home and there it stays. They really wanted that didn’t they? I could have saved the dollar and put it else where for something they could really enjoy. Maybe your kids or grandkids aren’t like that and that is great! But mine are 🙂 I am recycling everything I can recycle and trying to buy American Made Earth Friendly products as much as possible. Some things I can’t find American made. Like dolls I have looked on the internet for them. If anyone can find them let me know I would love to put some in my online store. www.AmericanToyBoutique.com

Buy American Made

We are so excited to start this new online store americantoyboutique.com.

Everything in our store is made right here in the United States and is Eco-friendly.

I have looked for a store for a long time that I believed in and this is the one!

During these challenging economic times, we hope you’ll consider products made in the USA before making buying decisions. We believe that children have the power to make a difference in their own lives and also the environment. We are proud to support jobs in the US, and provide fun educational toys and games.

We are dedicated to providing products of the highest quality and educational value.  Our products are positive, fun, eco-friendly, made in the USA and non-violent.

Did you know in the 1960s, nine out of every 10 products Americans bought for the holidays were made in America. Today easily more than half of what we buy is foreign-made. If every American spent $64 on something made in America, we could create 200,000 jobs right now. Wouldn’t that be GREAT! Our hope is for every American to stop and think before they buy. Think of all the people that are out of work because so many jobs are going elsewhere. I hope you stop by and check us out at www.americantoyboutique.com
